Nestled in the shadows behind Melk Abbey's old pavilion, conductor and speaker Azis Sadikovic attracted a group of 30 listeners to ignite a fresh perspective on leadership.

Drawing inspiration from the world of music and orchestration, Aziz used the analogy of an orchestra he conducts. He emphasized that successful conducting isn't about extracting from his musicians what he needs. Rather, it's about knowing what each orchestra member requires to deliver an extraordinary performance.

Here, the concept of mindfulness enters the spotlight. To drive this point home, Aziz shared eight pivotal leadership tips:

Breathe: It’s foundational, setting the rhythm for both body and mind.

Have a vision: In an orchestra, every element is interconnected. Always consider the big picture.

Be authentic: This includes the bravery to step beyond one's comfort zone.

Be agile: While preparation is key, so is acting and deciding in the present moment, with an awareness that each interaction involves distinct individuals.

Be present: What aura do you exude when you enter a room? Is it commanding or subtle?

Continue to grow: Embrace lifelong learning and activity. Comprehend the past and present to mold the future.

Be trusting: Musicians are masters of their craft. Dictating every move makes the music about the conductor. Trusting them brings out the rich diversity of a full orchestra.

Get creative: After all, what are music, business, and life without a splash of creativity?

Following an engaging discourse, attendees were asked to form triads and delve into three pressing queries:

How can we remain resilient and healthy in an era where tech and digital advancements amplify our sense of unpredictability?

What insights can a historical place like Melk provide for harmonizing digitalization and mindfulness?

In what ways can digitalization address the monumental challenges awaiting us in the next century?

The insights gathered will soon be shared with the entire BOLD community. But first, attendees are set to embark on a journey through Melk Abbey's storied library.
